The Sandoval County Community Services Department is committed to improving the quality of life for our citizens by providing access to comprehensive, culturally sensitive health and social services. 

The Community Services Department is comprised of three primary programs:

  ♦ Community Health
  ♦ DWI and Prevention
  ♦ Senior Services

The Community Health Program is located in the Health Commons, Building B located at 1500 Idalia Road in Bernalillo and is co-located with the NM Dept. of Health, Public Health Office. By co-locating these programs, residents have access to a wide array of programs within one facility. The Public Health Office provides, WIC services, immunizations, family planning and other maternal child services. The Community Health Program provides on-site Medicaid Application Assistance and Renewal for pregnant women and children ages 0-18 and Assistance in applying for the County Health Care Assistance Program also known as the Indigent Fund. A preventive oral health program is offered two days per week for pregnant women and children ages 0-18 and services include exams, cleanings, x-rays which are provided by a Dentist, Dental Hygienist and/or a Dental Assistant. The DWI and Prevention Program provides comprehensive services to address Substance Abuse, Prevention and Education. This program is located at 711 Camino del Pueblo in Bernalillo, NM. The Program has staff trained in all aspects of DWI Treatment and Prevention Activities and Education. This program also oversees a Shelter Plus Care Program which provides a tenant based rental housing program for the chronically mentally ill. The Senior Services Program provides a variety of countywide services for seniors who are 60 years of age or older. They include 5 Senior Centers and 1 meal site, who provide congregate lunches, Monday through Friday, homebound meals, activities including exercise, computer, language, and craft classes, Project Linus activities and transportation. The program also has a Frail and Elder program which provides homemaker, case management and caregiver respite services, a centralized transportation program and a Volunteer Program which includes Retired Senior Volunteer Program, Senior Employment Program, Foster Grandparent Program and a Senior Companion Program. In addition to the programs listed above, the Division oversees the management contract for the Sandoval County Ropes Course located at the National Guard Armory on SR 550 and a Recreation Program in Pena Blanca which includes a Recreation Center and Gym with lots of activities for all members of the Community.
